Apple leveled a new legal threat on Monday against the struggling electronics company that has claimed it owns an iPad name in China. The court in Southern China ordered a large retailer to stop sales of the gadget.

The FT.com revealed that the festering dispute, that cast a cloud over an Apple’s sales in one of its biggest potential markets, is expected to come to a head in the next two weeks, with a court in Guangdong due to hear the US company’s appeal against an earlier ruling that found against it.

Apple bought an iPad trademark for some countries from Proview Taiwan, an affiliate of a struggling Hong Kong, the listed electronics company, in late 2009. But, while the agreement includes two trademark in China, it later turned out that these were owned by a separate affiliate, Proview Shenzhen.

In a letter sent to the company’s chairman, Apple said that Proview was damaging Apple business in China, and demanded that the firm stop misrepresenting facts of the case to Chinese media, reported by macobserver.com.

The letter, a copy of which was seen by the FT, claims that Mr Yang himself knew of an authorized transfer of the trademarks to an Apple, but had continued to make “false and misleading statements’ by claiming the Shenzhen unit had known nothing about the sale.

Sundan itself did not reply to request for comment. The court could not be reached for comment.

A Shanghai court is set to hold a hearing on Wednesday on a request for an injunction against an iPad sales there.

The Chinese customs has also yet to act on an attempt by Proview to get imports and exports of an iPad through the Chinese ports blocked. The measure with the largest potential for damage to Apple because all iPads that the US company sells worldwide are manufactured in China.

As we inch closer to the early March debut of Apple new tablet, the iPad 3 rumor mil continues to gain steam, and now there are some more reports that claims to have information on the new iPad have emerged.

As the proposed announcement data draws closer, it seems that more information is being leaked which supposedly provides insight into the design of Apple’s new tablet. Today is no different, with the Apple daily website posted an article that features images that they claim to have received from an unnamed special channels. The images published shows a bird eye view of the rear of what they claim is the new iPad 3 tablet. The article features an image which is made up of the first gen iPad, the iPad 2 and the alleged iPad 3 that claims to provide a comparison between the slight change in from between the three.

The images does not bring any drastic changes to the design to our attention, though it does shows a notably exaggerated taper around the edges of the tablet that cause the camera itself to actually be embedded within that taper. The larger tapered area will give an iPad a more prominent look when viewed in profile. The comparison image that shows all the three gen of an iPad shows the iPad 3 camera lens to be noticeably larger then its predecessor that could fall in line with the rumors that the iPad 3 will feature a significantly improved 8-megapixel camera which would be a welcome upgrade from the current 1 megapixel offerings.

The leaked images do seems to tally up with the reports from other, more reputable sites which means that we have no reason to doubt their legitimacy.

Apple on Thursday made announcement for its newest version of Mac operating system, OS X 10.8. The newest version being called as ‘OS X Mountain Lion‘, up from the current OS X Lion running on Mac computers. This new version of operating system is inspired by an iPad.

Apple has made a preview version of OS X 10.8 available to registered developers and will release the final version, with over 100 new features later this summer.

These features includes a new Messages application, that incorporates what used to be iChat; Remainders and Notes applications, that looks like their iOS equivalents; Game Center; and a transition from iCal to Calender and Address Book to Contacts. In general, all of these items looks much more like iOS.

The features also includes a Notification Center that shows user the things like new emails, calender items, instant message, and calender alerts.

Perhaps the biggest change is the integration of iCloud. User mails, contacts, and calender and also the documents, photos and videos can now be automatically synchronized with the user Macs, iPhones and iPads. Initially, the documents and media are only synced to iCloud from Apple’s own applications, but the developers can modify their programs to let users save directly to iCloud and to the local file system of the user Mac.

The release will likely to be in late August, as usual, and will begin to ship with the MacBooks and iMacs during the initial education sales and beginning of the school year, when Mac sales typically increase.

For more traditional applications that don’t go through the store, though, Apple is adding a feature called Gatekeeper. Developers get an ID which they use to sign their applications and users can choose to block any unsigned applications. The idea of course is to reduce the malwares, and Apple has an ability to revoke a certificate and shut off any application, if it is found to be malicious. That could be a big improvement in the security.

The other features include Twitter intregration and AirPlay Mirroring, so you can stream what is on your Mac screen to an Apple TV. The developer version is now, with final release slated for late summer.

As the Apple’s trademark dispute with Proview Technology rages on, iPad continues to feel the heat in China. Following the ban in one of Chinese city, an iPad has now been pulled from Amazon’s China and the retailers has frozen all the orders.

According to Tech in Asia, the search results for an iPad on Amazon’s Chinese site shows nothing. Whereas the iPad 2 product page no longer gives its users an option to purchase the device. And it is not just an Amazon, either; Suning, a similar retailer, has also ceased sales completely.

The ban comes just after a day Proview said it is moving to have all the iPad shipments into and out of China stopped. The company looks to secure $38 million in compensation from Apple for using the name of iPad in China.

But despite everything, an iPad is still available from Apple’s online store in China, and may other retailers continue to offer the device. Apple maintains that Proview refuses to honor their agreement with the company and that a Hong Kong court sided with Apple on the matter.

The GoPad is an iPad “desk” that hangs around the users neck. Anyone who has watched the attendant in the menswear section of an old school department store put on the spectacles will instantly recognize the principle: the GoPad hangs around the users neck until required. Then user can flip it out and it preches on user belly, in the perfect for some stand-up typing.

The GoPad, a wearable iPad desk looks pretty cool. A minimal frame surrounds the three edges of an iPad and a paracord runs up to a padded neck-strap. Slung over the shoulder it looks great and even in ‘belly mode’ the device itself remains aloof and modish. The only thing that spoils it is the user using it, as when users tap at the screen with their arms held t-rex-like in front of their chest.

Altogether, there are two ways to adjust the GoPad. One is to slide the adjusters on the strap itself and the other is to diet or eat more to change the size of your belly. The latter method is unsurprisingly very slow. The GoPad is now available for $90, including a bag, and is coming soon for the PlayBook, the Motorola Xoom, the Kindle Fire and the Galaxy Tab.

Apple shares hit a record of US $ 503.83 shortly after the opening bell and were up 1.53 percent at US $500.97 in early trading. Nine months earlier, the shares were valued at US $ 300 each.

Analyst Ben A. Reitzes said in a note to the investors that on Tuesday that he sees some potential catalysts for Apple in near future. The most imminent is a new iPad, which is expected to be unveiled at an event in media on March 7.

The analyst believes that Apple is contemplating placing ARM-based low-power processors in some new Mac models, replacing the Intel chips that currently power its product lineup. He thinks the soonest that would happen is by the end of 2013.

Beyond the Mac lineup, another catalyst seen by Reitzes is a new iPhone he expects to debut in the second half of 2012, with a late September date specifically cited as ‘likely’.

Apple’s value had another psychologically significant moment last month, when the company’s market capitalization topped $400 billion.

Apple reported blockbuster quarterly earnings last month with net profit more then doubling to a record US $ 13.06 billion and revenue soaring to an all-time high of US $ 46.33 billion.

The shares of Apple has risen steadily over the past few years on the release of a string of hit products starting with the iPad in 2001, followed by iPhone in 2007 and an iPad in 2010.

The latest rumor is Apple iPad 3 will be unveiled on March 7. On Feb 11 the website iMore reported that “sources who have been reliable in the past’ told it that Apple’s next iPad will launch March 7 and pack a retina display with a resolution of 2048*1536 pixels, a quad-core processor and ‘possibly 4G LTE networking”.

The retina display, the quad-core CPU and the 4G rumors all line up with the speculation that is circulating for many months, but the iMore’s report of March 7 launch date is new. Shortly, after, Apple centric blog The Loop quoted iMore’s report and simply added, ‘Yep’.

The date matches up pretty nicely with the more general ‘first week of March’, reported last week by All Things Digital, and with Apple picking a Wednesday as its go-to date for last year’s unveiling of an iPad 2.

The iPad 2 made its debut at a special event in downtown San Francisco on March 2, going on sale a week and a half later. A handful of report suggests that whatever device Apple rolls out next, it follows a similar pattern to what the company did with an iPhone 4S, where there are simple improvements on an existing hardware models.

There are mainly three types of personal computers. The traditional desktops and laptops are dominated by the windows. Smartphones are a jumble of an operating systems. But the tablets are growing at very fast rate and are eating the low-end of laptop market. Led by an iPad, the tablets are becoming a mainstream, entry level computer for many people.

Now the Microsoft wants a bite of that market: so Windows on ARM, or WOA. There have been windows tablets for many years, but because of the limitations of Intel’s hardware and Microsoft’s software, they haven’t been cheap enough, light enough or easy enough to use to grab the iPad consumer.

The WOA promises to change that by porting windows to iPad like hardware. The ARM chip architecture is what all the iPad and the Android tablets use, and there is no reason that the windows is not able to run on something with the specs of an iPad or an Asus eee Pad, going for under $500.

WOA tablets won’t run the hundreds of thousands of apps that currently run on windows PCs. This is because those apps are compiled for Intel’s chips, they will have to rewritten for the new tablets.

The mobile gamers looking for a virtual fight also can get a healthy dose of 3D action in the classic version of SoulCalibur (Namco Bandai Games, reviewed for iPad 2, rated 9+, $15.99) built for Apple’s touch sensitive tablet.

The game beautifully adapted from the 1999 Dreamcast version the action takes place in some vacation-worthy arenas and has a player unleash his weapons-based combat attacks in warrior-versus-warrior matches.

The legends like Nightmare, Sophitia (the mother of Patroklos and Pyrrha seen in SoulCalibur V), Yoshimitsu and Voldo mix it up as the player uses the touch screen’s virtual directional pad and collection of four buttons to tap in sequence and deliver some pretty awesome combination moves.

The battle mode also includes Survival, Time attack, extra survival and arcade.

The latter features seven matches for each character, concluding with a fight against an Inferno to ultimately shed light on each story and unlock the complete lineup of 19 warriors.

A great practice mode really hones skills by automatically demonstrating on-screen how to pull off any fighter’s complete collection of assaults, including the 8-way Run and Special attacks.

It made the game so much easier for the beginners.

“No word yet on street date for the iPad 3 (assuming that’s what it’s called),” noted the Feb 9 report, which relied on the ever-popular unnamed sources. Those sources apparently confirmed that the next gen tablet will boast a similar look to the iPad 2, “but running a much faster chip, sporting an improved graphics processing unit, and featuring a 2048*1536 Retina Display or something close to it”.

In the last quarter alone, Apple managed to sell some 15.34 millions of iPad. The company expect any new tablet release to continue that blockbuster sales run. Moreover, that massive sales volume is apparently affecting the other products in Apple’s hardware ecosystem.

“There is cannibalization clearly of the Mac by the iPad, but we continue to believe there is much more cannibalization of Windows PCs by the iPad”, Apple CEO Tim Cook told analysts and media listening to the company’s Jan. 24 earnings call, “and there is many more of them to cannibalization. And so we love that trend”.

As a whole, the iPad franchise enter 2012 in a particularly strong market position. Throughout 2011, other tablets have plunged into the tablet arena with huge advertising budgets and the stated aim of becoming an “iPad killer”, only to find apathetic customers and a general lack of buzz.
