The iAd service of Apple is coming July 1 this year. To attract the large marketers to the latest app, Pandora has created its own advertisement platform. Just like iAd’s, the advertising platform of Pandora features audio, video and other variety of interactive elements without leaving the app which are not available on the iPhone version. Lexus, Budweiser and Starbucks are the brands of new iPad advertising platform of Pandora. Pandora offers a personalize radio service aside from cosmetic features and also says it can “hyper target” its listeners by age, location, gender, time of the day and types of music.
John Trimble, Pandora’s chief revenue officer, in an e-mail interview with the paid Content discussed about the fast speed of advertisement service growth. He said, “We did $50 million in revenue in 2009, up from $20 million in 2008 and we expect significant growth in 2010” and also remembered “We started web advertising in Feb. ‘06 and mobile ads in May ‘09.”
John Trimble also stated that the introduction of the ad platform is meant to benefit the relationship of Pandora with large marketers. Since Jan’09, more than 70 percent of the advertisement of the top brands is available on the Pandora advertising platform. Besides his, the top internet spending brands, out of 100 more than 60 run on the Pandora in the last 16 months.
Pandora captured 54 million registered users in the US and represents the extension of its presence from Blue-rays, TV as well as smart phone. Pandora finds the devices as fitting with its additional media offerings and viewed that there are only 2 million consumer’s hand.
Pandora in case of the iPad also finds the way to match its modified playlist advertisers.
